Making a time-lapse video using an SJ camera

1. Turn on your camera.
2. Select capture and select 5s.
3. Put it into pic mode and hit the ok button.
4. Stop the camera when completed. A day's footage ideally.
5. Connect to a pc.
6. You will need an editor. I use Sony Vegas 11.
7. Drop all of your pics into the editor.
8. Goto preferences and select the editing tag.
9. New still image length(seconds) change this to 0.033
10. Now you are good to go.

Here is a simple one I created

This clip has about 5600 pics and is about 20 gb.

Tips - Ideally you will want a minimum of 8 hours footage so you will need about a 32 gb memory card.

  1. Thanks for the post. Does the battery last long enough to take so many pictures in time lapse mode? Perhaps 10-15 hours?

  2. No. You will need to plug it in.

  4. I have SJCAM M10+ camera and it has a videolapse option which automatically combines all the photos, which I didn't like at all. I didn't know about this option at all until I saw your post. Thank you very much.

I have one question though, is there an option to change exposure time in capture mode? For example, if we set capture mode to 10s, can we change exposure time to 5 seconds, so we could get some better night shots?
